✨ My Favourite Prone Lying Exercises After a Long Day Sitting ✨
Whether you’ve been at a desk or behind the wheel, these are a great way to counterbalance hours of sitting and reset your spine 👇

1️⃣ W Press
Lie with arms in a “W” shape, elbows resting on the mat. Gently lift the upper chest by lengthening through the back of the neck—think movement coming from between the shoulder blades. Want a variation? Lower the head and try lifting the arms off the floor, keeping that W shape strong and steady for a deep upper back burn 🔥

2️⃣ Prone Press Up
Extend the W press by lifting your ribs away from the mat. Think long spine, not high lift.

3️⃣ Unilateral Swan & Twist
One arm stretched forward, the other under the shoulder. Lift and twist by dragging the stretched arm and pressing down through the bent one. Look over the back shoulder 🌀

4️⃣ One Leg Kick
Fists under forehead. Pull yourself along the mat, lift ribs, and alternate leg bends. As you kick, press hips down and try to hover the thighs—can you keep your knees off the mat?

5️⃣ Double Leg Kick
Hands behind the back, head to one side. 2 quick kicks, then extend and reach fingers to toes. Lower and switch head sides.

6️⃣ Swan + Rest
Hands under shoulders, press up to lift the chest. Elbows point back as you lower with control. Sit back into rest position to finish 🧘‍♀️

We always focus on layering and progressing mindfully, making sure every student can approach these safely and with confidence 💪

It’s so rewarding to explore the classical repertoire and see how much our long-term students have grown. Watching them now attempt moves they once thought impossible is such a testament to the method — it really does work 💫

The most incredible weekend with @jpilatesuk for Tower training ✨

I have spent the last 2 days completely immersing myself into learning all the amazing things this piece of equipment has to offer. Working alongside the loveliest instructors, we have had so much fun! Lots of practice to perfect that technique and so many other exercises that aren’t in these clips which you guys will LOVE.

Feel so lucky to be completing all my equipment training with Jo, she really is the best there is! ✨🫶 and it might have been tower training, but a weekend with Jo, always means lots of inspiration for our Mat & Reformer classes too!!

🔥 Side Lying Leg Lifts — On the Mat & Reformer 🔥

A classic move you’ll see in most mat classes (and sometimes on the reformer too!). But how can you perfect your form?

✅ Push down through your elbow to keep shoulders away from your ears
✅ Lift your ribs to create length on both sides
✅ Reach through your top leg to keep hips stacked and feel the work 💥

This is a great example of how Pilates is all about the little corrections — they make a huge difference! 🙌

Small adjustments = big results. 💪

✨ Hi, I’m Claire – owner of The Bambu Space and passionate Pilates teacher.

I began my Pilates teaching journey in 2018 to complement my work as a dance teacher… and I instantly fell in love with the method. That spark truly ignited during the 2020 lockdown, when I found my incredible mentor @jpilatesuk . With her guidance, I completed my pre- and postnatal qualification, barre certification, reformer training, and countless inspiring workshops.

Short Spine Massage — one of my absolute FAVS!
But why?

Yes, it’s incredible for spinal articulation, flexibility, co-ordination, and of course that powerhouse strength…
But what really gets me? The ARM work!

When done well, it lights up the entire posterior chain and demands serious control from the arms. I had a lovely 1:1 this week and after this move, she really felt it — and that just made my day.

Even better? We took that connection to the mat and it completely transformed her roll over and shoulder bridge by using that arm work.

This is why I LOVE Pilates — it’s not just about one move or one piece of equipment. It’s how it all works together.

This post is a more personal one, a bit about me I guess, hopefully not to bore you, but to put you at ease. I’ve had a few mamas message because they’re so nervous about coming to classes (with or without their babies/children) and my word, do I get it!

So here I am and that there is my little boy, he’s 6 months old, absolute cutie but with a decent set of lungs! I’m by no means a fitness machine (I wish I was), I’m still not back in my pre pregnancy clothes (because let’s face it I like chocolate too much 🙈) but I do believe in how mindful movement can completely change your mood.

I want you to know you’re always in safe hands. I’m here to support you, and bring back a little dose of life before, to do something for you - I’m still working on that bit too!

The biggest step you will take in this whole journey, is booking the class and turning up. Once you’re there, you take it at your own pace and stay in your lane. Believe me everyone else is just worrying about what they’re doing. It’s real talk and it’s real life. You’re never going to be 100% all of the time and that is fine! But those first steps mean everything.

We’ve got plenty of toys to keep the little ones entertained, full changing facilities, and a kitchen for bottle prep or a comfy chair for breastfeeding – so no stress about forgetting anything when you leave the house!

As a mum of two, including a 6-month-old, I’m on this journey with you. Crying babies? Totally normal. And if you need help, we’re happy to lend a hand!

We offer two classes:
L1 (from 6 weeks) – A gentle introduction to exercise and body rehab post-pregnancy.
L2 (from 3 months) – A regular Pilates class where baby can come along too!
